INCOGNITO OUTFIT CHOICE? 

15/11/2011

Jess and I have planned to go on a 12 Hour Sneak dressed in outfits which will help us blend into the Duke of Cornwall Hotel background. Our aim to walk free in a place we really shouldn't be. To become characters who 'belong' in a place that has no invitation or use for us and to record just what happens during this adventure.

Ok so here I am thinking about tomorrow and preparing myself  by searching through my wardrobe for the appropriate outfit to blend into the background to wander the corridors, find secret rooms through secret doors that lead to other places. This is going to be an exploration into the imagination of story telling fantasy which may include lying, running and hiding. These moments will be ignited by certain props and chance encounters, everything will feed into this piece of work including what we choose to wear.

What a fantastic experience!

Unforgettable for so many different reasons. If I were to name them all I'd be here for for ever...

One very BIG adventure which has propelled my viewing and 'experiencing' of fringe and Performance Art into a whole new Comet like stratosphere. Throw in an unusual setting in The Duke of Cornwall Hotel and an eclectic bunch of invited paid and unpaid Artists and you have an exciting, buzzy, scary, bloody, insightful, questioning, glass stilettoed feast for the mind, body and eyes. 

Highlights : Pride and delight for my fellow class mate, * ARTISTS * for securing their places with really good proposals in the first PP event.

Reading Kenza Rescorla's*- internal hotel musings map without the colour and joy of nature and the great outdoors..... 

Hearing Sophie Troczynska's*- evocative sound piece while sitting quietly in an empty hallway room that became a plush hushed giggling transport highway...

Capturing Jess Young's*- brilliantly and beautifully engaging multi layered interactive Nomadic suitcase Performance in a hotel she wasn't even staying in!! Next time, Jess next time...

Plymouth is a veritable hive of Artistic Activity. We haven’t stopped talking about the BAS7 for months until that is NOW! 

Jess and I are going to pause, take a deep breath and take a look at what is happening in the Plymouth Fringe.

If the BAS7 has an alternative creative underbelly tickling its stoic institution led back bone it can found in Come to Ours. 

Forget Museums and Universities, art centres, colleges and Slaughter Houses. Here we find 'Art' in Ali Baba's takeaway, in the favourite pubs frequented by the artists, on the aural streets and in the intimate domestic surroundings of The Fireplace Gallery.

So Is Come to Ours an invitation? 

Well, yes it most certainly is!

Come to Ours is the brain child of a gathering of artistic minds Rachel Dobbs, Bryony Gillard, Christopher Green, Mark James, Hannah Jones, Beth Emily Richards and Neil Rose.

It is an invitation to share and explore a city that they have come to love and celebrate via a programme of activities and events that showcases the work of emerging and established Artists. It takes the viewing of Art to a whole new more intimate and community based level and enables the viewer to experience the real heart and people of Plymouth.

Today we are going to experience 'Would you like a badge' which is a tour of all the favourite pubs and bars frequented by  the Come to Ours Team. Another way of experiencing the city of Plymouth and having five badges to show for it.
